Mercado Little Spain

Mercado Little Spain, from chef José Andrés’ company ThinkFoodGroup, opened its first market and restaurants on Friday, 15 March 2020, bringing the culture of Spain to New York City in creative collaboration with fellow Spanish chefs, brothers Ferran and Albert Adrià.
Three full-service restaurants, 15 food and retail kiosks and two bars. The 35,000-square-foot restaurant and market is open all day at 10 Hudson Yards.

Mercado Little Spain is a veritable love letter to Spain, showcasing the delicious diversity of food and drink from all corners of one of the world’s richest culinary countries. Whether you have five minutes or five hours, there is something for everyone – from a quick bite to a lively tapas crawl to a leisurely Spanish dinner.

“We are bringing the most delicious things from every corner of Spain to New York. I am very excited to open Mercado Little Spain, this is a dream come true, both for me and for my dear friends Ferrán and Albert,” said José Andrés.

Legendary Spanish chefs Ferrán Adrià and his brother Albert, who met José at the beginning of his career at El Bulli, provided a creative collaboration on the conceptual infrastructure, design and initial menu concept to help create an authentic experience in a Spanish market through the creative perspective of these three legendary chefs.

Mercado Little Spain brings the culinary talents of Chef Andrés to New York for the first time, offering guests an immersive experience to experience the food and culture of their country of origin, whether it be sitting down to eat, buying food to go, or spending time enjoying tapas.

Designed by Capella García Arquitectura, a long-time collaborator of Andrés, together with ICrave, the New York design and innovation studio, and Anthony Mrkic Architect, Inc., the interior design of Mercado Little Spain is strongly linked to authentic Spanish aesthetics and decoration. To create a real corner of Spain in the United States.

“Mercado Little Spain has been a dream for 30 years, in which the three of us were together on a project in New York,” said Ferran Adrià. “It is a project that culminates a way of seeing Spanish gastronomy, where tradition and modernity dialogue, and the illusion is that it becomes a great tool for the export of products.”

Mercado Little Spain is more than just a gastronomic discovery. It’s a complete cultural immersion that transports you to Spain, in a space decorated with art, murals, materials, furniture, all sorts of resources from the great Spanish artists whose work is as rich and varied as the country’s cuisine.
